Derek Pridey, DVM – Owner          

Along with his family, Dr. Pridey moved to northwest Kansas in 2014 to be an associate veterinarian for Countryside Veterinary Clinic. After co-owning Hoxie Veterinary Service, P.A. since 2016, he now holds sole ownership of Hoxie Veterinary Service, P.A as of March 2019. Dr. Pridey grew up on a farm northwest of Leoti, Kansas. He completed his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 2006 at Oklahoma State University. In August of 2023 Dr. Pridey completed his animal chiropractic certification and is excited to add this as a service for large and small animals. Serving and assisting clients with individual animals, as well as providing insight and resources for helping in operation management stand as Dr. Pridey’s most enjoyable aspects of veterinary practice.

 

 


Brandi Taul, DVM

Dr. Taul joined the practice in April 2020 as a part-time veterinarian. In 2010, she graduated from Kansas State University with a Bachelors in Animal Science, and achieved her DVM degree in 2015. Previously, Dr. Taul worked in mixed animal practices in Ness City and Hoisington. Dr. Taul’s husband, Dusty, works as a Kansas Highway Patrol officer and is assigned to Gove County. To be closer to family, Dr. Taul, Dusty, and their three boys, Elijah, Micah, and Jude, moved to a small farm near Grinnell. In July 2023, they welcomed another baby boy, Isaac. Dr. Taul enjoys spending time outside with her family, and loves gardening in her free time. She has two dogs, Norm and Sam, chickens, and a small cattle herd.

 

 


Abraham Padilla, DVM

Dr. Padilla joined Hoxie Veterinary Service, P.A. as a full time veterinarian in August 2022. He and his wife Anna Leigh come from Leoti, KS. He received his DVM degree in May of 2022 from Kansas State University.  Abraham is looking forward to meeting new cow-calf producers and getting to know their operations to help them improve herd health and optimize productivity. He and his wife hope to someday have their own cow-calf herd. Dr. Padilla is also bilingual speaking both fluent English and Spanish. He and his wife also welcomed their first child in March of 2024. 

 

 

 


Cheryl Pridey, Business Administrator

Mrs. Derek Pridey became a part of the HVS team in May 2019. Cheryl grew up in southwest Oklahoma, graduating from Corn Bible Academy in Corn, Oklahoma. She went on to receive an associates degree from Tabor College in Hillsboro, Kansas and earned her cosmetology license from Meridian Tech Center in Stillwater, Oklahoma. Cheryl always thought of herself in the veterinary or veterinary technician field, but instead married a veterinarian. She adores the baby calves, cattle, and furry, cuddly cats. Aside from helping Dr. Pridey with small animal surgeries and delivering baby calves, singing, playing the piano, cooking, baking, and crocheting consist of her favorite pastimes. Derek, Cheryl, and their four kids love the outdoors.

 


Ashlee Marsh, Receptionist

Ashlee joined Hoxie Veterinary Service, P.A. in January 2021 as a veterinary assistant but, in September of 2023 she took over as receptionist. She is originally from Boone, Colorado and moved to northwest Kansas to attend Colby Community College where she graduated with an Equine Science degree. Currently, Ashlee is taking online courses with Penn Foster to complete her Veterinary Technician degree. Ashlee enjoys helping with farm and ranch responsibilities, as she come from a family of farmers and ranchers, and rodeo.

 

 


Lexi Petersen, Veterinary Assistant

Lexi became apart of the Hoxie Veterinary Service, P.A. team in June of 2021. Born and raised in Lincoln, NE, Lexi moved to the Morland area to be closer to family. She enjoys working with all the animals that she gets to see on a day to day basis. Lexi is currently taking Veterinary Technician classes online through Purdue University.

 


Juliann Cassaw, Registered Veterinary Nurse

Juliann joined  Hoxie Veterinary Service, P.A. in May of 2023. Born and raised in Atwood, Ks now lives in Levant, Ks with her husband and their four legged friends Bruno, Chloe, and Horton. Juliann graduated from the Colby Community College Veterinary Nursing program in May of 2023 and become a Registered Veterinary nurse in July 2023. Her favorite parts of the practice include working with small animals doing dentals and working with large animals.  Her hobbies include fishing, camping, baking and walking her dogs. Juliann also enjoys running her cow/calf operation on her family’s ranch.  

 


Taylor Russell, Veterinary Assistant 

Taylor joined Hoxie Veterinary Service, P.A. in September of 2023. Born and raised in Hill City, Ks, she now lives in Tasco with her son Gavin. She is currently attending Colby Community College to obtain her Veterinary Nurse degree. Her favorite parts of the clinic include the variety of services to patients and working with the staff at HVS. She has a wide variety of hobbies which include playing with her son when she is not working.
